Some thing. That I have.
I'm am way too good
Published on June 24, 2008 By Cedarbird In Personal Relationships

My best friend is in Tennessee selling alarms.  He works every day until dark, so 9-9:30.

His birthday is on Saturday, I sent him an e-card, but he's alone, not having much success, and kind of frustrated.  His sister and brother in law are out there with him, selling...but I don't know them.

I want to do something to let him know that I'm thinking of him, you know?  I'm broke, and don't have a lot of time to plan, but if anyone has any long-distance birthday ideas, please let me know.

Oh, I DID make him give me the sister's phone number, so I can get her in on the idea, but I'm at a loss.

Thanks for any ideas.

Oh yeah, and I'm kind of broke, so i can't do anything too expensive or extravagent.  Nor would I want to because that'd be weird...

First of all, before I go any further, haha, is this head wound guy?

Will you still help me even if I say yes?

I'll take that as a "no, little bird, not gonna help you."

Thanks guys. Feelin' the love.

Haha, no, no, it's not! LOL. I got distracted. Let me think.

Hmmm...why not have his sis get him a cake on your behalf (maybe you can share the cost?) You could sing Happy Birthday to him over the phone...

Or you could send him a video greeting, if possible (have something funny to say...you know, to get him to smile and laugh a little)...

Or you could download some of his fave music and make a cool CD for him.

Just some ideas.

Ooh, that just might work...that is NOT a bad idea at all.

Thanks, InBloom.

Sorry. Nope, little bird. You know how I feel about this chap, so I'm all dried up for ideas as to how to surprise him.

Go suck raw eggs and howl at the moon. He's a good guy, and you are being a jerk about him. Just because you're bitter about your own relationships doesn't give you the right to criticize mine.

Just because you're reading your own relationship issues into my response doesn't mean I was being a 'jerk'. I said, 'You know how I feel about this chap'. Not 'He's a jackass'.

No, I don't care for him as a person, and I don't like the way he played with your heartstrings. Call it what you will, but I like to think of it as a big brother protecting his beloved little sister.

'He's a jackass'.

You said it, not me. And you've said it before. You don't like him. You never have.

Yes, he's played with heartstrings, but no more than anyone else does. He's my best friend, so deal with it.

I love you, but this is getting out of hand. I just wanted ideas for his birthday, but now I have an idea, already in motion.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

I'm sorry.

Give me karma and you're forgiven.
