Some thing. That I have.
A couple of things...

I have two addictions.  One I'm getting over, the other I will never be rid of.

1.  I accidentally got hooked on Excedrin Migraine.  I didn't mean to, but it's the only thing that would take away my headaches.  Then if I didn't take it, I'd get one.  I finally figured it out, though.  I was addicted to the caffeine.

I've been sober for three weeks, now.  Not a stitch of caffeine in that long.  I have a headache, and I took four Tylenol and three Advil yesterday for the pain.  It still didn't completely get rid of it.  The withdrawals are getting better, though, I hadn't had one for...a week...until yesterday.  The headaches are back.  They're nasty bad.  I really want the Excedrin, because I know it'll go away, but I shall resist.

2.  I'm addicted to my stupid cell phone.  I hate the thing, but I can't go anywhere without it.  And the worst part is that it doesn't even go off very much.  I just always have it.  Probably for the 'just in case' factor, but I can't turn it off.  It kills me.  And I'm not even as bad as other people.

I have a problem.

Yes, you do.

Put down the pills. And walk. Away.

Might as well put the phone there, too.

But my head hurts...so bad....

And the phone? I'd love to, but can't. It's a sin.

Caffeine and cell phones?  Well that's hardly exciting.

Oh well, addiction is addiction, I suppose.

Withdrawal from Caffeine does give a lot of headaches. I was able to withdraw, not through careful planning, but out of dumb luck! My sister started cutting my coffee with decaf, and then one day she had to go to another city for her son's heart surgery. And I forgot to make my coffee!

Been off it for 5 years now. Good luck with yours.

Girly, if you're having migraines, you can't expect yourself to just power through it. If you can afford it at all, you need to see your doctor. There are A LOT of different migraine meds out there as well as bio-feedback treatment and triggers to identify to reduce the frequency of your headaches.

Any addiction is not good, regardless of what it is.  I should know, having had a few addictions in my life.  But you're doing the right thing in first identifying you have a problem and trying to do something about it.  Good for you.

I don't think they're migraines. Just headaches. That are cured with Excedrin migraine. It happened to be the type of Excedrin in the medicine cabinet back home, and so that's what I'd take. But the caffeine kind of hooked me without me realizing it. Grr.

Yikes.  It sucks when you depend on a medication so much. I've been there, but somehow, with enough willpower, you manage to get on without it.

Hope you are rid of these headaches soon!

Caffeine is wicked, but to ease the withdrawl eat dark chocolate.  It's about 20mg for an ounce....the same as in a cup of green tea, but chocolate tastes better.  And you will be able to come off it slow, and tastefully...

eat dark chocolate.

That's some really good stuff. It's a tad bitter for some, but I like it.

Hmm, that's good to know, I'm going cold turkey, not fun. I'm not a big dark chocolate fan, but maybe I'll try that for the next withdrawal I have.

Regular milk chocolate has 6mg an ounce...it might help, but of course you better eat aout 3 ounces...

haha, I'll deal. I was mostly just whining about my headache, anyway.

Try to think what brings on the headaches.  Is it when you're on the computer too much, when you're feeling stressed or anxious, allergies?  Anything could be bringing them on.  My son has constant headaches and it's because he's always on the computer, playing is game system or on the handheld.  He swears it's not that.  But I plan on getting him check out.  Perhaps you should too, go to the doctor if that continues.

And babes, if the cell phone is becoming a problem, I know it's hard, try mini withdrawals, like it not being in the same room with you when you're home, or even an hour! I know it's hard!  Hey, we'll do an intervention if we have to come through the computer at ya!lol!

When I get home from Spain, I'll cure this addiction for her.

It will involve putting her phone in the garbage disposal.
