Some thing. That I have.
I have a crazy idea!!!
Published on May 13, 2008 By Cedarbird In Religion

All right, so we all know that there is a constant debate over which is correct: Creation or Evolution.

I have this crazy idea that just might work.

What if, now get this...BOTH ARE RIGHT!!??

All I know about either subject is what I learned in AP Biology my junior year of High School, and the Bible and Pearl of Great Price.

From what I can tell, there is far too much evidence of evolution to dismiss it out of hand, including carbon dated fossils and anatomical similarities between unrelated species.

I also can't look at a newborn baby, or learn about the human body and how smart it is without knowing that there is no away that we came together by chance, luck, or pure evolution alone.  Something (Heavenly Father) had to direct it.

So, my philosophy is (now get this):  DIVINELY DIRECTED EVOLUTION.

Don't give me any crap about the Earth being 6,000 years old.  Even in the Bible it says that a day in heaven is 1000 years on earth.  We all know that time in the Bible is relative, 1000 years just means "a really long time."

Anyway, what do you all think?  Ya' think that maybe my idea could work?  Or maybe everyone is too closeminded for this one.

Oh well, I tried.

That's pretty bored.  Try reading a book, instead

No matter how old the earth is, it could still be lots YOUNGER than the material it is made out of. Talk about that.

I have to say I don't agree with this idea, not because I'm contrary but because I don't believe in this idea:

I think the reality is this subject has already been discussed, dissected and debated (and other words not beginning with 'D') a lot here and maybe most of us are over it.

But nice try, though.

Yup, it's been a debated a lot so i won't go into to much detail at the risk of everyone going insane from hearing the word 'Evolution' or 'Intelligent Design' a few times more.

With response to the origional poster. There is no evidence for Intelligent Design, nothing observable or measureable and until there is it needs to stay in the realms of Philosophy and not Science.

That is the dispute (not whether Evolution is right or whether Intelligent Design is).

Mmm...good points, all. Guess I'll close this one out, then.

just one more.......you're talking about Theistic Evolution Cedarbird and that is not a new concept.  It really came about after 1859 when Darwin came out with his famous book.   Many were trying to compromise the two together and it's been a belief ever since.

I don't buy it, but then again, I'm a creationist through and through.  God said it...that settles it.

There is no evidence for Intelligent Design, nothing observable or measureable and until there is it needs to stay in the realms of Philosophy and not Science.

and like what I said on my site....neither can molecule to man be observable or measurable either.......so maybe evolution should also stay in the realms of Philosophy and not Science?

If that's your criteria, and not a bad one, isn't it fair they both be treated as equal theories since neither one can be proven on this side of eternity?

No, because abiogenesis can be proven, at least as much as gravity can be, it just hasn't happened yet. ID can't be proven unless we can have a public discussion with the designer...and he is able to prove he did it.

I think the term "random" is code for "we don't know".  I also have to wonder about words like, "instinct" and "spontaneous".

All those words are used by science, yet it's science that teaches us that there is a cause and effect to everything.

When it comes to the whole debate, i think both sides are coming to conclusions with insufficient data or evidence to say the other side is wrong.

"Science is man trying to figure out how God does it" works for me.

Despite my lack of belief, it works for me too. I just don't think science should be forced to agree with an ancient text, especially a literal interpretation of one.

It just occurred to me, even if the bible was the uncorrupted word of God, whose to say "he" wasn't telling metaphoric parables and not actual accounts of his exploits?

Agreed, just as I don't think we were meant to just keep our nose in the Holy Bible and not learn all we can about the universe God created for us.

Our ignorance doesn't do Man or God any good at all.

Nothing to say other than congrats on being featured.

Now that's a crazy idea.
